The
project of the complex
will be entrusted to a team of architects which we're currently selecting and which will have the skills to
best interpret the innovation and
orientation towards the future inherent in the project. It's also been planned, close to the
Cassia Bis motorway, a
work of great architectural importance which will be built
on the most panoramic point. To achieve this, we
will decide shortly whether to assign it to the architect
Peter Eisenman or hold
a call for invitations.
The acceptance of
Peter Eisenman to
coordinate the whole project has
all the potential to become a seminal event in the history of modern Roman architecture. One of the
protagonists of the
history of world architecture since the Sixties, he has always been strongly
linked culturally to the Roman architecture
school and
sensibility, as much to receive a
career prize at the Biennale of Architecture in Venice and an
honorary degree from the faculty of Architecture of the University of Rome. Professor at
Harvard,
Yale,
Princeton and
Columbia, and author of
dozens of books, Eisenman is also a
luminary of contemporary architectural thought.
Recently, he found himself working on a project in
Spain from which we have drawn inspiration. The
City of Culture, in Santiago de Compostela, is in fact placed in a
morphological context and landscape with surprising similarities with the area of our project, both in his
positioning behind a hill, than for the
cultural heritage of the area and the
morphology of the local urban center. The solution that he has decided to adopt
blends in an extraordinarily organic way the complex with the morphological, historical and cultural context and landscape.
The central architectural intervention on the District will then be developed
using a similar design approach, reinterpreting it on the basis of the uniqueness of context, its requirements and the artistical freedom of the designer; creating therefore an organic work that will, in the forms, in the public areas and its functionalities
act as a qualifying fulcrum for the whole Industrial Zone.
